MEDICARE REFERRALS

Medicare rebates are available for psychological treatment by registered psychologists under the Australian Government's Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. You are entitled to receive 10 Medicare-funded psychology sessions per calendar year. If you wish to receive treatment subsidised by Medicare, you will need a referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or psychiatrist.

Private referrals

If you wish to self-refer, you do not require a referral from your GP, and you will need to pay in full. To self-refer, please contact Tina (details under Contact) for a consultation.

FEES AND REBATES

For a standard appointment with a clinical psychologist, fees are $195 for a 50-minute session. If you have a MHCP, you will receive a $128.40 rebate from Medicare, making your out-of-pocket expense $66.60.

For a standard appointment with a general psychologist, fees are $160 for a 50-minute session. If you have a MHCP, you will receive a $87.45 rebate from Medicare, making your out-of-pocket expense $72.55.

Fees can be negotiated for longer-term work, for students, or for people experiencing financial hardship.

Telehealth sessions are also available.
